The Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Krakow was founded on 15 November 2008 under the The Act of 3 October 2008 on sharing information about the environment and its protection, public participation in environmental protection and environmental impact assessment (Journal of Laws No. 1999, item 1227, as amended).

  • Areas of action

Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Krakow is part of the government administration and performs the following tasks in the field of environmental protection and nature conservation:

  • strategicenvironmental impact assessments;
  • protection andmanagement of Natura2000 sites and otherforms of nature protection;
  • agreeingthe decisions about public investments localization and building conditions of the protected area (excluding the national park area)
  • administrative decisions based on the nature conservation low;
  • estimation of the damages made by protected species of animals (e.g. wolves, bears, beavers) and indemnity making;
  • administrative investigation based on the damages prevention law;
  • participating in the eco management and audit system;
