General description of the area
Area “Widnica” is located in the western part of the Upland Miechowska north of Strzeżów, the municipality Miechów, district miechowski, Małopolska Province. 100% of the area is agricultural habitats. The object of protection are Xerothermic grasslands. They grow very steep, narrow slope with southern exposure, length of approximately 710 m and a width of about 110 m. The land is located between intensively exploited fields (wheat, cabbage). The area of the Natura 2000 ‘Widnica “is 7.9 hectares.
The value and importance of the natural
The area is distinguished by its well-preserved xerothermic grasslands Inuletum ensifoliae with numerous positions of protected plants, e.g. Anemone sylvestris, Aster amellus, Campanula sibirica, Carlina acaulis, including 4 species of orchids, but making here very small populations (Epipactis helleborine, Orchis militaris, Platanthera bifolia, Cephalanthera damasonium). This area is of great importance for the conservation of biodiversity of agricultural landscape.

Threats
The biggest threat to the area is the lack of traditional – extensive agricultural use (grazing, mowing, cutting bushes) grasslands, causing them permanent obliteration.
